Series Fun

 



 This year in addition to the Finishing the Series challenge hosted at Celebrity Readers, I have found several others centered around reading and completing series. All 3 are intended to encourage readers to finish the series they have previously started.   One is a point tabulator and you are dinged with a negative point if you start a new series- don't worry if you read more than one in the series you will gain the point back.

This is a challenge that is intended to help you finish up reading series you have already begun.  It is hosted at Celebrity Readers.  You can finish a completed series or just get caught up on an ongoing series.

There are 3 levels of completion.   You just need to post reviews to a linkup on a quarterly basis.

I found a new challenge, Stacking the Series hosted at Flickering Fandom on Instagram.  It is focused on completing series.  This one focuses on creating a stack.  You try to get as tall a stack as possible based on the number the book falls in series  #stackingseries2023

HOW IT WORKS:

- Read a book that is part of a series, to try and create as tall a stack as possible
- ONLY series books are allowed BUT there are no page limitations so feel free to read novellas etc to make up a number
- For series books with double digits, you can use the sum of the series number [So if you read Peace Talks by Jim Butcher which is #16, you could tick off row 16 in one go, or you could count it as a 7, because 6+1=7]
- You don't have to work in order, but only rows that are complete count towards your highest number

Also hosted by Leana on Instagram is another challenge intended to help you finish reading series you have previously started.   Series catch up is a cumulative total of the number you have read but you lose points for starting a new series.  #seriescatchup2023

HOW IT WORKS

📚 ANY book that is part of a series, in any format, counts
📚 +1 point if a book is a continuation of a series
📚 +3 points if a book is the latest volume of an incomplete series
📚 +5 points if a book is the final volume of a complete series
📚 +1 point if you REREAD a book in order to continue a series (i.e. you decide to reread Chain of Iron to refresh your memory before going in to Chain of Thorns)
📚 -1 point for a new series you start in 2023 (if you then continue the series it earns points the same way as any pre-2023 series)
