This is the first book in the Seaside Cafe series by Bree Baker. It is a series set in the Outerbanks town of Charm, NC. Everly Swan has returned home from culinary school to open a Sweet Tea Cafe in a Victorian house that sits on a hill overlooking the Bay and the beach. Baker does a wonderful job of capturing the beach community vibe and the pluses and minuses of small town living. The reader observes as Everly reestablishes old friendships and makes new ones as well. It is easy to envision her struggles and frustration with acceptance in the community once again. Her family's long history in the town goes a long way to help her restore the townspeople's trust and confidence in her. Along the way she gets a little help from friends and family in solving a few crimes.
I look forward to reading more in this series
Live and Let Chai by Bree Baker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Everly Swan is a charming young protagonist who has returned to Charm, NC to open a Sweet Tea shop. Baker has crafted a wonderful cozy with very endearing characters. Her descriptions of the people and the Outer Banks community transport the reader right into the town. The story is full of surprises and the guilty party was quite shocking at the end. The story ends with a cliff hanger that makes you wish you had the next book all ready to read more about Everly and her charming town
