I enjoyed The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler. It is a light-hearted romance set in Alaska. There are a few deeper concepts intertwined into the storyline. Specifically it gets the readers to think about the downside to living in a tourist area. It points out the difficulties of having a very transient base of clientele for the businesses. Additionally, the disparity in economics between the locals and the tourists who visit this particular lodge is very significant. The book made me think about Hawaii and how it must be like for many of the locals there. The tourism, along with the locale, drives prices in the islands up and then the locals are faced with those high prices. Fortunately for those residents there are often kamaaina rates which are available for locals, similar to resident rates at WDW for tickets and hotels.
The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Enjoyable chick lit with a mix of outdoor adventure thrown in for an interesting mix. Anyone who has had a vacation fling will enjoy this. Strong female characters with character you can’t help but root for
