Set a goal and track, pretty simple right?

So, I thought I would start out by describing the straightforward challenges I am going to attempt in 2020.   Like the Reading Challenge Addict one I described in my last post, these all involve setting a goal and then tracking how you do against that goal.

The first step is to pick a realistic level of how many you think you can do and finish.  Then just track the books you read and at the end of the year note whether you made your goal.  Different challenges do ask for status updates and reviews of books as you read, it really depends on the hosts.

The goal setting challenges I have signed up for are:

2020 Craving for Cozies

This challenge is hosted by EscapewithDollyCas.  She hosts several challenges on her blog.

This first one is related to cozy mysteries.  This happens to be my favorite go to genre.  I can easily lose myself in a cozy mystery and finish it in one sitting.  The levels for the challenge are listed below.  I have selected to attempt Famished since I am trying multiple reading challenges.  This is set to allow for you to move up if you accomplish more than you expected.

Levels
  • Peckish – 1 – 25 Cozy Mysteries
  • Famished – 26 – 51 Cozy Mysteries  THIS IS MY GOAL
  • Yearning – 51 – 75 Cozy Mysteries
  • Starving  – 76 – 100 Cozy Mysteries
  • Ravenous – 101 – 125 Cozy Mysteries
  • Voracious – 126 – 150 Cozy Mysteries
  • Overindulged – 151 – 200 Cozy Mysteries
  • Pigged Out – 201 or more Cozy Mysteries
You can always go up a level but you can’t go down.
I will track my books for this here on the blog as well as a shelf on my Goodreads page. There is also a FB group for those doing the challenge to share their reads and get ideas from others.  Reviews are not require but are always a good idea to support the authors.

2.  Cloak and Dagger

This is another mystery tracking challenge hosted on Carols Notebook.  Similar to the one above but it is all mystery genres, not just cozies.  This one asks you to link up your reviews that you post on Goodreads, Instagram, your blog or Amazon etc.

Levels:
  •  5-15 books – Amateur sleuth
  • 16-25 books – Detective-  My Choice
  • 26-35 books – Inspector
  • 36 – 55 – Special agent
  • 56+ books – Sherlock Holmes

This challenge also has a FB page to check in on monthly to update everyone on what you are reading.  I will track there and here on my blog.  #CloakDaggerChal

3.  Historical Fiction Reading Challenge

This challenge is hosted by Passages to the Past is a similar style challenge. Here you are tracking how many historical fiction novels you read during the year.  The premise is to read any sub-genre of Historical fiction and link your book titles and their review onto their monthly post.  You can review books anywhere- Goodreads, Facebook, Amazon, or your own blog.

The levels to try to reach are:

20th Century Reader - 2 books
Victorian Reader - 5 books  This is my Goal

Renaissance Reader - 10 books
Medieval - 15 books
Ancient History - 25 books
Prehistoric - 50+ books

4.  Mount TBR

This challenge is to help as an incentive to read through your pile of books you mean to read.  It is hosted on My Reader's Block and has a Goodreads group to post your progress.  The books can be either physical or electronic, you just must own them by Dec 31, 2019 to have them count as a TBR when tracking.  #MountTBR2020

I have selected to try to scale Mount Blanc for 2020.  Maybe I will get lucky and get further.

Challenge Levels:

Pike's Peak: Read 12 books from your TBR pile/s

Mount Blanc: Read 24 books from your TBR pile/s  I'm Scaling Mount Blanc in 2020
Mt. Vancounver: Read 36 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR pile/s
El Toro: Read 75 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s
Mount Olympus (Mars): Read 150+ books from your TBR pile/s

5.  Library Love

The Final tracking challenge I am participating in is the Library Love challenge.  It is being hosted at Angel's Guilty Pleasures and Books of My Heart.     They are doing monthly challenges and giveaways if you review the books you read.  Angela is also hosting a new release challenge as well.  Check out the sign up by clicking here or on the logo below.  They have a Goodreads group to join and see what everyone is reading.

This one has a minimum of 12 books from the Library to be read in 2020.  The only requirement is you check it out from the library, no restrictions on format or genre.   Just support your local library.

I get most of my books from my TBR pile or the Library so these 2 challenges are perfect for me.  I admit I do not buy books very often if i can find them at the library or in their ebook catalog.  I do have a Kindle Unlimited account which I use for additional titles.

The levels available to set your target are:

Levels:
  • Dewey Decimal: Read 12 books
  • Thrifty Reader: Read 24 books
  • Overdrive Junkie: Read 36 books

  My Goal for 2020

  • Library Addict: Read 48 books
  • Library Card on Fire: Read 60+ books

Track and review to be eligible

6. Finish the Series  #FinishingTheSeries2020

This is a fun challenge I have found on CelebrityReaders.com.   It is about trying to finish off series you have read parts of.  You do not need to go back an reread the books you've already read, just finish up the series.  There are quarterly link ups on the blog to share what you have been reading.

I think I will aim to make it to B-List Series Finisher- Completing 5-8 series

Sign up Here to join me on this challenge.  Be sure to use #FinishingTheSeries2020 on social media
