The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was a very good thriller with some unexpected twists. You really don't know who Avery should trust when trying to determine what really happened to Sadie the previous summer. The book is written in alternating time frames. It transitions back and forth between summers and at times Avery reflects even further back in history when remembering memories. Avery is a girl who finds herself caught between the 2 worlds of summer residents and year round citizens. Neither group really views her as one of their own. Her character struggles to overcome past mistakes and behaviors and to try to reconnect with her former friends. She is motivated to find out what really happened to Sadie the previous summer and she really doesn't believe the version of the story that is being told. The book is very good at keeping the reader guessing and trying to figure out who Avery should trust.
I recommend this book for anyone who likes mystery/thrillers.
