This 5 book in the series gives us further glimpses into Pepper's childhood. This time in addition to Kristin, who's a regular side character, we meet Maddie. The book examines how everyone has a different perspective on their friends' lives. Pepper has always had a bit of envy thinking Maddie has it all and we find out through the mystery perceptions aren't reality. This mystery intermingles 2 different crimes and brings about some full circle moments. We also witness a bit of Pepper and Nate's relationship moving in a new direction as well.
