When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
engaging read
This book is a layered novel with a love affair at its center. The love is both between a woman and man but also between a woman and her country. There are glimpses of idealism that show through the characters. As Mr Dwyer says though, the world is made up of grey. It’s not all black and white. It is intriguing to read about Cuba from the perspective of a Cuban refugee. The detailed accounts of the Bay of Pigs/Cuban missile crisis and Kennedy assassination are all weaved into a wonderful story that balances details and action in a wonderful manner
