Long Island by Colm Tóibín
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
drama drama and more drama
In this sequel to Brooklyn we meet up with Eilis, Tony, Nancy and Jim again. I must say some of the characters behaviors while understandable made them very easy to dislike. There is plenty of manipulation and stubbornness amongst them all and in the end I’m not sure if anyone is happy. Indecision is the bane of their existence and leads to much unrest and unhappiness. The drama is well written and it’s easy to imagine being amongst the characters in Long Island and Ireland
