Review: You Can't Joke About That: Why Everything Is Funny, Nothing Is Sacred, and We’re All in This Together

You Can't Joke About That: Why Everything Is Funny, Nothing Is Sacred, and We’re All in This Together You Can't Joke About That: Why Everything Is Funny, Nothing Is Sacred, and We’re All in This Together by Kat Timpf
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Interesting take on jokes and humor and the role they play in life. As a Libertarian Kat speaks a lot about free speech and its importance in society. She made some very Interesting observations and points. Over all enjoyed it and it is mainly not about politics and what she does discuss represents both sides of the aisle.

Review: Just Add Water: My Swimming Life

Just Add Water: My Swimming Life Just Add Water: My Swimming Life by Katie Ledecky
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As a former swimmer I found this book quite engaging. For non swimmers I think you will still enjoy the book. Katie talks about her life and how she came to swim. She then goes through her Olympic and international experiences. Most of all she talks about the people in her life and how they influenced her and her swimming. It is an engaging read. And anyone who remembers Katie and her bear at the London games will probably enjoy this book

Review: The Woman in Suite 11

The Woman in Suite 11 The Woman in Suite 11 by Ruth Ware
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

twisting thriller

Quite a ride in this book. Just when you think you’ve figured it out another twist happened. In a follow up to Woman in Cabin 10, we encounter Lo 10 years later. I don’t really remember the other book and it certainly didn’t ruin n experience but I would advise reading it first if you haven’t as this book has some spoilers.

Review: Stories from Candyland: Confections from One of Hollywood's Most Famous Wives and Mothers

Stories from Candyland: Confections from One of Hollywood's Most Famous Wives and Mothers Stories from Candyland: Confections from One of Hollywood's Most Famous Wives and Mothers by Candy Spelling
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fun look into the life of Candy Spelling and as such her marriage to Aaron Spelling. As a child in the 70s and 80s I watched many of his shows and then came to watch Tori’s reality tv. I didn’t know much about Candy and this book shared anecdotes and a bit of her side of the story of her relationship with Tori. The fun stories as bout her home and rubbing shoulders either the who’s who of Hollywood were enjoyable to read. There were some poignant moments too and you cannot help but admire the attempts she and Aaron made to raise kids that were as grounded as possible given Their circumstances. It definitely speaks to there are 2 sides to every story and I truly hope the Soelli DS mend theirs before it’s too late

Review: The Perfect Staging for Murder

The Perfect Staging for Murder The Perfect Staging for Murder by Kathleen Bridge
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A family bond that isn’t quite as it seems is at the heart of this installment in the Hamptons based series. This book is full of tv production scenes as well as real estate moments. This made the setting a different feel from others in the series and gave it a fresh approach. There were plenty of new characters developed and the mystery had plenty of twists.

Review: The Bride Test

The Bride Test The Bride Test by Helen Hoang
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

a surprisingly emotion read

I enjoyed this book more than I expected. I picked it up for a book challenge but found myself really rooting for the characters. There is depth and complexity to Esme and Khai that helps to get a glimpse at who they are under the surface. There was lots of learning on both their parts There was a bit more racy scenes than I anticipated but that was the minority of the book and was relevant to the plot. Overall I enjoyed reading Esme and Khais story
