I enjoyed this intro to the series. I’m usually not a big fantasy reader but I enjoyed the concept of a dragon and its protector. The mystery was a parallel story in this case as Hailey tries to work through her grief and transition to her new responsibilities. Once I got used to how the transmitting of silent communication was written it was a fun writing style. The mystery itself was a bit abrupt in some ways but was still plausible and it was probably a realistic representation of an amateur sleuth stumbling through a case
I look forward to reading more about Hailey and Azure.
